About HPD (Health Product Declaration)

The ECS HPD, overseen by the Carpet Institute of Australia as the standard’s secretary, sets a global benchmark for product transparency.

Developed by the Carpet Institute of Australia, it provides transparent ingredient disclosure with details of the human and environmental health impacts throughout the product lifecycle.

The ECS HPD declaration is aligned with the Open HPD Standard.

The Carpet Institute of Australia (CIAL) verifies that each ECS HPD meets the requirements of the Open HPD Standard.

Document Specification

A Health Product Declaration (HPD) is a standardised document that provides essential information about the chemical content
of the product. The HPD will confirm risks of potential health impacts on bodily functions of the skin, eye, oral and lung, as well as
environmental impacts over the product lifecycle. The HPD includes:

  • Product Description
  • VOC emissions
  • Ingredients (CAS Number)
  • Content Evaluation
  • Notes in Explanation
